Herbs in the form of roots, stems, petals, leaves are steam distilled through the old technique of steam distillation to take its essential oil and water. Here, the steam is passed through the herbs and rises up- The steam carries with it from the herb the water soluble nutrients and oil – volatile in nature and rises up. On rising up it comes in contact with the condenser – cool pipe where the steam turns into droplets f oil and water dripping into a glass vessel. Oil being lighter floats on the top of the water. It is the best technique to produce EDIBLE – HIGHLY THERAPEUTIC ESSENTIAL OIL & HYDROSOL. Though it gives lower yield as compared to solvent and other methods being in use in this century but it is Pure & rich. If an herb is Edible – Its essential oil & hydrosol are edible too.
